Candace Wheeler House

The 3,200 square foot Candace Wheeler house is one of the first homes built in 1883 for one of the founders of Onteora Park, an 80 residence Catskill Mountain colony for artists and writers mostly based in New York City.  For the 2009 renovation, Lester Walker redesigned the entire, decaying front facade and added a large addition to the rear of the building facilitating a new kitchen and modern bathrooms.  This project required sensitive attention to the existing building’s original shingle style while adding contemporary amenities.
