254 Front Street - South Street Seaport, New York City - Jess Walker at Morris Adjmi Architects
Completed in 2011 in the South Street Seaport Historic District of Manhattan, this 35,000 square foot speculative rental building with ground floor retail is clad in pure zinc clapboards with long steel cables supporting the marquee while referencing the adjacent, historic Brooklyn Bridge. The windows and trim are natural mahogany often found in the prewar boats docking nearby. Targeting the young bankers prevalent in the financial district, this building has become an admired part of this historic district.
