The Emory - Ladies Mile District, New York City - Jess Walker at Morris Adjmi Architects
The Emory was built in 2009 as a fourteen story, 12 unit, speculative residential condominium building in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The design and presentation subverted the Sliver Law requesting a variance to build substantially higher than either of the adjacent buildings siting the sawtooth nature of the Ladies Mile Historic District as beneficial to it’s inherent character. The two story penthouse and roof terrace was custom designed for and with lifestyle guru Colin Cowie.
