Scholastic Building - SOHO, New York City - Jess Walker at Aldo Rossi Studio di Architettura
Built as the company headquarters, and completed in 2002, the Scholastic building was 100,000 feet of new construction and 200,000 square feet of renovation of the Historical Charles Broadway Rouse Building. Built in the cast Iron Historic District, the building was intended to be a contemporary interpretation of the contextual cast iron facades. Paul Goldberger, the Pulitzer Prize winning Architectural Critic for the New York Times wrote “this building will teach generations of architects how to build in historic districts”.
